Today is an "A" Day


The Health Office will be accepting all physicals and medical update forms for the coming winter sports season. Please bring them in as soon as possible.

Counseling Center

The Guidance Department will be hosting a College Financial Aid Workshop for 11th and 12th grade parents on Thursday, October 24th at 7:00pm in the HSW Auditorium.

College Representatives will be in the Counseling Center this week as follows:

Wednesday, October 16th:
- Union College (Schenectady), period 5
- Liberty University, period 6
- The College of Saint Rose, period 8

Seniors: - If you plan on pursuing a career as a physician and would like to participate in the Doctors of Tomorrow Scholarship Program, come to the Counseling Center for additional information and to register by Wednesday, October 30th.

Seniors: If you have participated in extensive volunteer community service, please come to the Counseling Center for a scholarship opportunity by Wednesday, October 16th.

Seniors: If you plan to prepare for a career in teaching and attending a SUNY college, or a community college prior to attending a SUNY college, come to the Counseling Center for a scholarship opportunity by Friday, November 8th.

On-Site Admissions Day

Attention Seniors! High School East will be conducting our annual On-Site Admissions Day on Thursday, October 17th in the library.
The following college representatives will be here to review your transcript and application:
L.I.U. Post
St. Joseph’s College
Suffolk Community College
SUNY Farmingdale

The counseling center will provide you with the specific criteria for each college once you sign up.


ATTENTION SENIORS:The final round of voting for Homecoming King and Queen is now open! Please cast your vote before October 17th!

Interact is a community service club where students can earn service hours by helping others. Meetings will be every Wednesday in room 340. All are welcome!

FCCLA meets every Monday after school in room 149.

Habitat for Humanity meets every Tuesday after school in room 334.

Physical Education

There will be open gym night on Mondays from 7-9 pm for boys basketball.

There will be open gym nights Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 pm. All students interested in getting involved with girls basketball this season should attend, open to all.

Career Center

Students who are looking for volunteer work, jobs or internships, can visit the Smithtown High School Career Center's website located at www.tinyurl.com/smithtowncareercenter. There is also a link on this website for resume and cover letter writing. In addition, there are many Career Planning resources listed for students who are looking toward their future.

If you are interested in exploring HEALTHCARE CAREERS such as Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists or Physical Therapy...... then sign up for this year's 11th Annual Healthcare CEIP!
In conjunction with St. Catherine of Siena, our Career Center offers a Career Exploration Internship Program in healthcare areas.
Please pick up an APPLICATION in the Career Center or CTE Office. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Grafstein in the CTE Department.

If you are interested in a summer employment program, a local job, an internship or need help planning your future, please contact Ms. Grafstein via e-mail (mgrafstein@smithtown.k12.ny.us) or stop in the Career Center (Room 123B across from computer lab 124).


The overall purpose of the PTSA {Parent Teacher Student Association} is to strengthen the connections between parents, students, school staff, and the community and to help all work together to share ideas about programs and activities that benefit all students. We encourage every parent, student, and school staff to join the PTSA. Membership is $11 for adults and $6 for students. Applications are available on the school website.
