Counseling Center

Attention Seniors: Saint Louis University offers the Gateway Leadership and Service Award for students who have demonstrated a commitment to Jesuit values - regardless of their background or tradition. For nomination consideration come to the Counseling Center by Friday, January 31st.

Spring Driver Education

Spring driver education registration is being held through January 17, 2020. Scheduling will be on a first come/first serve basis. Tuition is $475. Applications are now available in the main office. Classes will begin on January 27th, 2020.


Cap and Gown Orders

Cap and gown orders will be taken on Thursday, February 6th, 2020, and Friday, February 7th, 2020, during periods 4 through 8 in the commons area. Two packages will be available to choose from. The basic package will cost $28 and consists of a cap, gown and regular tassel. The deluxe package will cost $38 and consists of a cap, gown, regular tassel plus a souvenir tassel and a mini tassel key ring. Extra souvenir tassels, mega tassels, and mini key rings may be purchased for $6 each. The cap, gown and tassel(s) are kept by the students as mementos. Payment can be made in cash or checks made payable to Josten’s, Inc.

Senior Banquet tickets are $85 each, make checks payable to Smithtown High School East with Class of 2020 in the memo line. Have your contract filled out and signed.


SHSE Fashion Show

The Smithtown High School East Fashion Show will be held April 7, 2020 at Flowerfields from 7pm - 11pm. Tickets are $70. Click here for more information.

CLUB/SPORTS NEWS

There will be a baseball meeting for all students interested in trying out for baseball this year. The meeting will be on Friday, January 17th at 2:30 in the Little Theater.

The National Honor Society will be hosting HOMEWORK CAFE every other Thursday. There will be an opportunity for peer tutoring in any subject along with hot chocolate and cookies! Time is from 2:05 - 2:45 in the Commons Cafe.

DECA meets every Tuesday in the Little Theater, it is not too late to join! Membership & competition sign ups are happening now! See an officer, Mr. Hennings or Ms. Miller for details.

Interact is a community service club where students can earn service hours by helping others. Meetings will be every Wednesday in room 340. All are welcome!

FCCLA meets every Monday after school in room 149.

Habitat for Humanity meets every Tuesday after school in room 334.

Career Center

Students who are looking for volunteer work, jobs or internships, can visit the Smithtown High School Career Center's website located at www.tinyurl.com/smithtowncareercenter. There is also a link on this website for resume and cover letter writing. In addition, there are many Career Planning resources listed for students who are looking toward their future.

If you are interested in a summer employment program, a local job, an internship or need help planning your future, please contact Ms. Grafstein via e-mail (mgrafstein@smithtown.k12.ny.us) or stop in the Career Center (Room 123B across from computer lab 124).


PTSA

The overall purpose of the PTSA {Parent Teacher Student Association} is to strengthen the connections between parents, students, school staff, and the community and to help all work together to share ideas about programs and activities that benefit all students. We encourage every parent, student, and school staff to join the PTSA. Membership is $11 for adults and $6 for students. Applications are available on the school website.
